Vivian Chung, MASc. P.Eng, is a biomedical engineer with research interest in traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, sports biomechanics, and surgical technologies. Vivian also oversees lab activities and the training of research personnel at the Centre for Aging SMART.

After completing her MASc. in Biomedical Engineering with Dr. Antony Hodgson and Dr. Bassam Masri as an Engineers-in-Scrubs (EiS) fellow, Vivian now leverages her engineering expertise on a broad spectrum of academic and industry research projects. She welcomes new project inquiries and believes that engineering can bring insights to any research goal, whether we are developing new surgical implants, studying the design of cities through wearables, or assessing an Olympic athlete for post-injury return-to-play.

A current research focus for Vivian is helmet sciences. As a co-inventor of Pivot – a helmet technology that adds protection against spinal injuries, Vivian is working with Dr. Peter Cripton to further the technology in hopes of reducing paralysis in high-risk sports.
