Welcome to SPA 2024!
The 2024 CIHR Institute of Aging Summer Program in Aging (SPA) is being hosted by the Centre for Aging SMART. SPA 2024 will be held from June 2 - 7, 2024 in Vancouver at the Point Grey Campus of the University of British Columbia. The focus for SPA 2024 is Ageism and Health Research, Delivery, and Outcomes in Older Adults.
Over the course of the SPA, graduate students and post-doctoral fellows will have the opportunity to engage in learning sessions, experiences, and activities built around the core thematic area of ageism. They will explore fundamental topics such as research and professional skill building, grant writing, communication, incorporating the perspective of those with lived experiences, inclusion and diversity, and knowledge translation.
To further an interdisciplinary experience, trainees will benefit from networking and mentoring opportunities with leading researchers in this area. SPA 2024 will be delivered in English, which includes all resources.
All Canadian trainees attending SPA 2024 would have applied to CIHR-Institute of Aging Funding Opportunity in Fall of 2023. Notification of acceptance to the program is expected in February/March of 2024. Once accepted into the program, communications from the Host Organization will be sent directly to participants including a link to a Registration Form. Also, trainees are encouraged to check back to this webpage frequently as planning and program information gets updated.
