Impacting Health
News
The Centre for Aging SMART at Vancouver Coastal Health seeks to positively impact the health and quality of life of individuals living with the effects of aging or disability by developing novel Solutions for Mobility, Activity, Rehabilitation and Technology. The partnerships between the Centre for Aging SMART, Vancouver Coastal Health and the University of British Columbia are key to developing health care innovations that can be rapidly moved into practice and policies to improve the lives of patients and families today.
We are a multi-disciplinary collaboration of researchers led by Co-Directors, Dr. Teresa Liu-Ambrose and Dr. Janice Eng.
Our clinicians and scientists tackle some of the most devastating and crippling problems currently facing BC and Canada’s healthcare system.
See the ways we support bone health, biomechanics, falls prevention, biomaterials engineering, orthopaedics, and more in our labs.
The Centre for Aging SMART at Vancouver Coastal Health is a Senate approved research centre at the University of British Columbia and one of 10 official research centres with the Vancouver Coastal Health Research Institute.
The Centre acknowledges with gratitude and respect that we are located on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples, including the territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.
